about

Peak Park & Charlie Wilde’s emotional debut collaboration, ‘Boyhood’ explores the complexities of masculinity, societal expectations and authentic self-discovery. The Bon Iver meets Labrinth chaotic production is a boisterous and heartfelt message to a generation of men unsure of who they are, and what they’re becoming. Boyhood is a reflection on the systems and attitudes that negatively affect boys as they grow up, and how this leads them to become destructive and repressed as they enter adulthood. Produced and mixed by Thomas of Peak Park, Boyhood is a pressure-cooker of emotion, waiting to explode.

Peak Park is an art-rock trio from Naarm/Melbourne whose eclectic soundscapes and poetic lyrics serve to move your soul and move your body. They have been featured internationally, nationally and have played alongside the likes of Siobhan Cotchin, Suzi and Taylah Carroll.

Charlie Wilde pulls you in with a deeply personal and yet somehow accessible message; one that is raw, sincere and human. Charlie has been played on both national and community radio, and been featured in the likes of Scenestr, Amnplify, Hipland and the ABC as well as being an ISC Semi-Finalist and a Finalist of the Songwriting Prize.

The artists met at The Songwriting Prize semi-finals in 2022 and swiftly decided to pair-up, with Boyhood serving as the first of two releases (follow-up single Old Love due late September). Amassing over 360k streams between them and a passion for experimentation, the unlikely pairing is one not to be missed.

lyrics

Hey Holden
Have you come of age?
Are you at the bar?
Or hotel lobby?

Will I meet you there?
Can I buy you a drink?
Let your weary soul
Tell me a story

Please just let me be
I have no voice
You have not heard
I will ignore
Your bitter lies
Pulled from your teeth
They won’t keep your hate

What am I worth?
What is it for?
Holding my breath
Wait at the door

Hold it for me
Be a gentlemen
Play the better man
I speak

Hey Holden
why the furrowed brow?
Could you crack a smile?
What are you fighting for?

You’re the same as everyone
A few markings here or there
Tearing at the peak
And I coulda told ya
I coulda told ya
Everything has it’s permanence say it for me
And you wouldn’t come find it in the reach

Please just let me be
I have no voice
You have not heard
I will ignore
Your bitter lies
Pulled from your teeth
They won’t keep your hate

What am I worth?
What is it for?
Holding my breath
Wait at the door

Hold it for me
Be a gentlemen
Play the better man
I speak

Set on fire
Left here in the reach and I
Still on fire

Left here in the reach and I
I couldn’t stop the bleeding
I could’ve made it out
Still on fire
